The number of research projects initiated at Renji hospital has been steadily increasing each year, including projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (major, key, and innovative research groups), key R&D projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology, and major projects from the Ministry of Science and Technology. For eleven consecutive years, the total funding has exceeded one billion yuan. In the past three years, Renji hospital has initiated a total of 1,387 projects, with a combined funding of over 700 million yuan. Additionally, Renji hospital has received the National Innovation Award, the Shanghai Science and Technology Award  (including two first prizes), the First Prize of the Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology), the First Prize of the Ministry of Natural Resources Science and Technology Award, the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award (including one first prize), the Huaxia Medical Science and Technology Award (including one International Cooperation Promotion Award), the Shanghai Medical Science and Technology Award (including five first prizes), and the Tan Jiazhen Life Science Award.
